Matta Rice
Matta rice is an indigineous variety of rice grown in the districts of Palakkad, Thrissur and Alapuzha of Kerala. This variety of rice will have a layer of reddish bran coating in its outer layer of rice kernel. Matta rice is usually double boiled and is enriched with high nutritional value. The different varieties of matta rice are:

Matta rice long grain: Matta rice long grain is commonly called as the vadi rice. As the name indicates this variety of rice is long and bold. This is brown in colour with an average length of 8mm and width of 1.5mm. This is available in packets of 5kg, 10kg, 20kg and 50kg.
Matta rice short grain: Matta rice short grain is commonly called as the unda rice. As the name indicates this variety of rice is short and bold. This is brown in colour with average length of 6mm and width of 1.2mm. this is available in packets of 5kg, 10kg, 20kg and 50kg.
Matta broken rice: This variety of matta rice is usually single boiled and the rice kernel is broken. These are available in packets of 5kg, 10kg and 20kg.
Matta brown rice: This is a variety of double boiled matta rice with its bran half removed from the rice kernel. This variety is having high fiber content and has got a high nutritional benefit. These are available in packets of 5kg and 10kg
